Test of whitening toothpastes

For the past couple of years, I've tried basically EVERY home remedy and EVERY whitening toothpaste to somehow whiten my teeth. Not that my teeth are overly yellow, but they're definitely not pearly white like Zac Efron's. So my obsession has finally led me to create this post.

First, you need to understand that when buying a whitening toothpaste, there are two different kinds; one that bleaches and one that's abrasive. Both are pretty bad for the teeth in the long run but the former is more effective.

Here are SOME of the toothpastes I've tried:

I started out with Pepsodent Gold which is an abrasive toothpaste, but it's quite different from other toothpastes due to its color. The toothpaste has a very rich, dark blue color which functions as a blue optical coating on your teeth. It will give the illusion that your teeth are whiter but in the end, the effect is temporarily and it really wasn't what I was going for. But it does work! For about an hour.

Then I tried Crest 3D White Luxe Glamorous White Toothpaste which has great reviews. The abrasives are supposed to remove stains. Unfortunately, it did not work at all and is probably the worst one I've tried. I'm starting to think Shakira has written hundreds of fake reviews...

Then I moved on to Colgate Max One which definitely helped but my teeth still weren't as white as Beyoncé's skin color post Destiny's Child.

That led me to Crest Baking Soda & Peroxide Whitening Toothpaste! It's definitely the best one I've tried yet! The peroxide bleaches while the baking soda has the abrasive function. My teeth aren't completely white - yet! But I still see a noticeably difference. If I were you, I'd try it out - the reviews on Amazon are great too.

To conclude: If you want your teeth to be whiter than snow, the only way to achieve this is to visit your dentist and get a professional bleaching - or you can try the home whitening kits you can buy at the drug store. Although those aren't nearly as effective as the one's you get at the dentist. Also, stay far away from home remedies - lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, oil pulling, etc. - they will only damage your enamel. If you want a whitening toothpaste, I recommend Crest Baking Soda & Peroxide - it's also a lot cheaper than an in-office tooth bleaching.

My favorite frangrances

Here are some of my favorite fragrances:

Spicebomb by Victor & Rolf
This fragrance is very spicy and masculine. Its main accords are cinnamon, pepper, tobacco, leather, saffron and paprika.

Lacoste pour homme by Lacoste
This fragrance is probably my all time favorite! Its main notes consist of rum, plum, vanilla, cinnamon, apple and grapefruit.

L'eau Par Kenzo Pour Homme by Kenzo

A great summer fragrance. Very light and citrusy. Its scent consists of Yuzu (an Asian citrus fruit), lotus, mint, lemon, white musk and water.

Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc & Rouge

In 2012, Lacoste created its new perfume line; L.12.12. The best ones are the white and the red. The white is floral and woody. It smells of grapefruit, Ylang-Ylang, tuberose and suede. The red one smells like rooibos tea, mango, cardamom, pepper, mandarin, ginger and wood.

Acqua di Gio Essenza by Giorgio Armani

Acqua di Gio Essenza is a reinterpretation of the classical fragrance Acqua di Gio. Its main notes are water, bergamot orange, grapefruit, pepper, cedar, floral notes and basil.
